Programme profile
This programme combines the essential elements of the BCL degree with a year studying law at one of UCCs prestigious partners in China, the US or Europe.
BCL (International) students spend the third year of their degree studying law through English while based in a trop law school in another country. For example, students interested in human rights and international law can study in the European cities of Leiden, Prague or Oslo while those interested in viewing law in action through trial advocacy and real-life law clinics can opt for US law partners in Philadelphia, New York or Saint Louise. Our partner in Shanghaiawaits those interested in the unique combination of law with Chinese studies.
Programme content
Year 1: Introduction to the Legal System; Constitutional Law; Law of Contract; Criminal Law; Legal Research and Writing; Elective
Year 2: Law of Property; European Law; Law of Torts; Statutory Interpretation and Analysis; Law or Language or Business Electives
Year 3:Students spend third year studying international and comparative law at law schools such as Saint Louis University, Missouri; Temple University, Philadelphia; Leiden University, the Netherlands; University of Oslo, Norway and Charles University Prague, the Czech Republic.
Year 4: Law of Equity; Jurisprudence; Moot Court; Law Electives
Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. Others must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects above must include:English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
